Hello! So lovely that you've stumbled upon my site. The Crafty Carrot is me, Cath, I'm based in North Wales and a few years ago I decided to indulge my passion and make cakes for a living. Having started out supplying local cafes and delis, whilst decorating the odd birthday or wedding cake for friends, I soon realised that the design side of cake making was really making me tick, and feel like I was finally making some use of that art degree I spent 3 years of my life studying for!
Along with beautiful cakes - tasty as they are stunning - something else I care deeply about is eggs, chickens to be more specific. It has always been important to me that the eggs I use are free range from chickens that enjoy a happy, carefree life - its the least they deserve for what they give us. So following in the footsteps of Kate Shirazi and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, I invested in 10 chooks of my own, now I really know the chickens that provide my eggs are truly free range…around my garden…in the apple trees…next doors garden if I don’t keep a good eye...oh, and in the house given half a chance!!
They have bags of character and do their very best to provide enough eggs for my little enterprise, although sometimes we have a little assistance from the local farm shop, just to make sure we never have to let a customer down!
Oh, and by the way…The Crafty Carrot is fully registered and has up to date certified food hygiene training.
